Batam!

Posted by elliejellie on Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Finally had the time to blog about the Batam trip!  Well, overall, the trip was still alright, just that it was our luck that everything that could go wrong, went wrong!

We have booked the 0930 ferry and we arrived on time 1 hour before to check in.  Guess it was the beginning of the school holidays that we were stuck at the queue for 2 bloody hours!  By the time we reached the departure hall, it was already freaking 1030!  And our ferry had probably already reached Batam.  Luckily for us, we managed to get into the next ferry which departs at 1050.  But totally sucks lor, no seats.  Had to stand/sit on the steps for about an hour.

Pic 1:  Look at the freaking crowd!

Pic 2:  We had to sit at the steps lor!  Initially all agreed to act angry.  But the rest of us decided to look pretty instead at the last minute.  Thus, my boss…LOL!

Pic 3:  Boss and Snow-white QA Manager

Pic 4:  The ferry butt…

Introducing my colls!  Katherine, my boss, Josephine, Accts Executive, Jeanie, Accts Assistant and Kiang, the Snow-white QA Manager.

While we were supposed to reach Batam by 1030 but got delayed because of the human jam at Harbourfront, we were worried that the transfer that was supposed to fetch us from Batam Centre to the resort has left without us.  But to our comfort, the driver was waiting aimlessly for us for an hours plus.  So touched!

Taken while travelling to the resort..

Immediately after reaching Batam View, we went for lunch at the coffee house.  Not much variaty and it cost S$18++ per head lor…Super not worth it lor!

And after lunch, it RAINED!  Checked-in and played mahjong.  Super boring.  Played mahjong till it was time to go for spa at 7pm.

The spa service was not up to expectation as well.  The steam room was shared by both of the sexes.  In comparable to Bintan, I’ll rate this 3/10.  Was cheap though..

Went back for another 2 rounds of mahjong before everyone zonk out at 3am.

It was sunny the next day, and we strolled around the resort, taking ‘bo liao’ photos.

We were scheduled to leave Batam View at 1230 as our ferry was departing at 1430.

But we decided to go Batam Centre one and half hour earlier by ourseleves for shopping.  And so, we left a message with the lobby recept to inform the driver to meet us at Batam Centre at 1300 to collect our boarding passes from him.  But we saw no sight of him at 1300.  Started to panicking and then had a little tension at the ferry counter.  Finally, the driver turned up at 1330 and we managed to catch our ferry on time.

I guess the trip was alright afterall, just that we happened to be suay lor…I heard from my ex-schoolmate that Batam Villa is good.  You guys might want to try that out instead. http://batamspavilla.com/

TIRED!

OMG, I totally forgot that I’m on the roster at MLC for this morning.  I feel so bad!  And the worse thing is that Dr Tan wasn’t even angry with me!  I used to be able to remember which days I was supposed to work.  Seems like I’m getting old lor…better start using my organizer once again…

The First & Last Dinner

Posted by elliejellie on Sunday, June 8, 2008

In the end, 9 of us went for the dinner.  We settled for Bali Thai at IMM.  My immediate boss, MD, QA Manager, 2 Accounts girls, Project Engineer and a Sales Coordinator, the German Engineer and I went for the dinner.  Thank god, my MD, immediate boss and the Project Engineer entertained him.  Whereas the rest of us spoke in Mandarin, entertaining ourselves.  I did not spoke a word at all to him.  Finally dinner ended and we all went our own way.  There shall not be another one and I shall not talk to him anymore.  Looking forward to 17 June when he will be back to where he belongs.  I’m so thankful that he is not an employee at my company…

烂桃花=lousy love blossom

Posted by elliejellie on Thursday, June 5, 2008

Recently, a German Engineer from our customer came from German to startup a new production line in our factory.  Being the usual friendly me, chatted with him over the most general stuff (weather & food).  The conversation went like this:

Me:  Is this the 1st time you visit Singapore?

Him:  Yah, it’s my 1st time in Asia too.

Me:  What is the normal temperature back in Germany?  Singapore is very hot right?

Him:  Yes, in Germany, for summer, the highest temperature is 20 degrees.  Singapore is good for holiday, but not for work.  (Smiles)

Me:  (Smiles) How about the food in Singapore?  Has Andy (Project Engineer who’s in-charged for this project) brought you around?  Do you like spicy food?

Him:  Yeah, I like the food in Singapore.  Yesterday I ate indian food and it was spicy, but too spicy for me.  Singapore has many kinds of different foods.

Me:  Yeah, that’s why the F&B in Singapore earns a lot.

Him:  Maybe we can go dinner together?

I was like thinking it was pretty harmless, so I agreed.  Then I mentioned, I’ll ask Andy along (because I didn’t want to just go out alone with him).  Then he said, ‘no, we don’t have to ask him along’.  Then I said, ‘I’ll ask the girls along.  The more the merrier!’  He said ok, and asked for my number to arrange for dinner.  Again, I thought it was pretty harmless and gave my number to him (which was really a bad choice).

Conversation ended.

Next, smses start coming in.

Him:  (About 2pm) Don’t be so shy…

Me:  (Ignored the msg all the way till evening) :) we have decided to bring you for thai food since you like spicy food.

Him:  Wow, I’m happy…

Me:  Good to hear that.  Will let you know the time again.

Him:  (his english ain’t exactly that good, but this was what he roughly meant) I’m looking forward to Friday, but not looking forward to going back to Germany.  I like Singapore.

Me:  *=_=* – did not reply anymore -

The next day, which is this morning, he walked past my room and popped his head into my room just to say good morning.  Shocked, but replied (for courtesy sake!).

Then later in the afternoon, he msged again.

Him:  You look very nice and beautiful…I like it…

Me:  – did not reply -

Him:  I hope you are not afraid of me.  Europeans are very open.

Me:  (Replied 4 hrs later)  Thanks for your compliment.  Did not see your msg till now.

Him:  You look like very sweetly in my eyes…

WTF?!

When I reached home and randomly browsing through the internet.

I saw this.

Tell me, horoscope or HORRORSCOPE?  And I am so looking forward to dinner on Friday.

P/s:  He is a 39 year old divorced man with 2 daughters aged 6 and 12.

P/s/s:  Told Mr Kutu and he laughed at me!

P/s/s/s:  And don’t any of you dare to laugh at me…
