The Ride Home

Worked till 10pm on a friday night. And if that’s not bad enough, the taxi uncle took me for a spin to tour bukit batok, hillview and upper bukit timah road.
Then I told him, u seemed like u have travelled a loooooooong way and normally when I take the cab back home from work even with peak surcharge, it’s only $8.90 and the meter was already showing $9 at that time. He mumbled something which I didn’t hear but since I was dead tired and the fare was claimable, I didn’t bother to argue.
After 20mins (usual takes abt 10 mins), I finally reached home. Paid the fare by nets and requested for a receipt. The fare was $9.70 including $0.30 nets fee. Then he took out a $2 note from his pocket and apologise for going the long way.
And I pocketed it.

I know what he is muttering.
“Sorry lah i miss an earlier turn so end up here lor”
That’s why give you back the $2.
but still, you are bad to pocket it. You should give your nicest smile and said it’s ok, it’s charged to the company.

I am nice enough lor… 10 mins of my time is not only worth $2!
